Soniquete collaborates with fabulous musicians from Istanbul, Spain and Belgium.  With respect to the tradition and the roots of flamenco, the group widens the doors to the new ideas
of freedom & expression. Emre “el Turco” is presenting his fresh, new compositions combining his roots with influences of jazz with compas and duende of flamenco in a natural way...
  
The group can vary from the basic trio: Emre “el Turco” (guitar), Dieter De Mits (electrical bass) and Ramon León (percussion) to richer formations as: the quartet with John Snauwaert (saxophone) and to complete formation of septet with José Cortés La Liz et Eva Mendez combining rich harmonies & melodies with vocals, palmas and of course with the attractive dance.

The music is based on different palos of flamenco. The rhythmical ones are like bulerías, tangos, alegrías and rumbas. Also more serious ones: minera, taranta, soleá, seguirillas… are presented to the public. The aim is a combination of rich melodies with colorful flamenco roots. The music & sound of the guitar is principal, but other instruments have also freedom to express their art/sound. And of course we mustn’t forget the different background of the group members.

John and Dieter have both a strong base of jazz culture, but furthermore their frontiers reach from Brazil till the Balkan. This wide understanding of cultures gives them an open aspect in the flamenco music world. Ramon, beside to the other percussion instruments which he plays, is specialized in cajón, which makes him unique in Belgium scene. The art of La Liz & Eva Mendez is a reflection of style & elegancy next to the fire of flamenco dance.
